Publication Ethics

Journal of Indian Languages, Literature, and Multilingualism (JILLM) is committed to upholding the highest standards of academic integrity and ethical publishing. The value of scholarly work depends on all participants—authors, reviewers, and editors—acting responsibly and ethically. This section provides a broad overview of publication ethics, aligned with the principles outlined by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and the Principles of Transparency and Best Practice in Scholarly Publishing.

 Editorial Responsibilities

Editors are expected to:

  • Maintain editorial independence and promote consistent ethical policies.
  • Enforce journal policies fairly and transparently.
  • Ensure confidentiality throughout the peer-review process.
  • Recognize and manage any potential conflicts of interest.
  • Advise authors, reviewers, and editorial board members on ethical matters, ensuring the journal upholds a fair and unbiased publishing process.

    Author Responsibilities

Authors must:

  • Submit original work written by themselves and ensure it has not been published elsewhere.
  • Properly cite all sources, including their own prior work, and obtain necessary permissions.
  • Avoid infringement of intellectual property or privacy rights.
  • Present accurate and unmanipulated data, and ensure permission for any reproduced data.
  • Declare all real or apparent conflicts of interest, including funding sources.
  • Follow research ethics guidelines, especially when involving human or animal subjects.
  • Contact the editor promptly to correct any errors discovered before or after publication.
  • Accurately represent authorship, ensuring that all contributors are credited and have given consent.

Transparency is key: If there is any uncertainty regarding originality, duplication, or overlapping content, authors should disclose it to the editor. Any potential overlap must be clearly stated in the manuscript.

Reviewer Responsibilities

Reviewers are expected to:

  • Maintain the confidentiality of the review process.
  • Disclose any real or potential conflicts of interest and decline reviews if necessary.
  • Conduct evaluations impartially, fairly, and objectively.
  • Seek guidance from the editor when unsure about potential conflicts.

     Ethical Oversight

JILLM is committed to:

  • Supporting editors in conducting journals ethically and transparently.
  • Maintaining an accurate and transparent scholarly record, including issuing corrections or retractions when necessary.
  • Upholding integrity throughout the editorial and publication process.
